CBD oil or aceite de cannabidiol is derived from the hemp plant, as many people may know.
You will learn the difference between CBD Oil and Hemp Oil and which one is right for you in our article CBD Oil Vs. Hemp Oil.
What is CBD Oil?
Before we answer this question, let’s first look at what CBD oil is. CBD oil is more well-known than most people. It is less well-known than other hemp or hemp-based oils.
What are Cannabinoids?
CBD is shorthand for cannabidiol, a cannabinoid. This is the one that has the psychoactive component, which makes you feel high when you take it. The cannabinoids, which are compounds found in the cannabis plant (of whom hemp is a derivative), are shorthand names for CBD.
How CBD Oil is Made?
The difference between hemp and marijuana plants is the amount of cannabinoids they are specifically grown to produce. Cannabis plants are often grown with higher levels of THC. Hemp is grown with a higher level of CBD and less THC.
CBD is extracted from all parts of hemp plants. This includes the stalks, leaves, flowers, and even the stalks. You can extract as many cannabinoids from the entire plant as you like, including CBD.
Depending on what type of oil you want to make, the cannabinoids will be separated from other plant compounds. Supercritical CO2 extraction is the most popular because of its purity and safety.
CBD distillate is a product that separates CBD from other cannabinoids. You can either sell this product as a potent CBD oil or mix it with other cannabinoids and oils to create broad- or full-spectrum CBD oils.
To make things more complicated, full-spectrum CBD oil is usually made by combining higher-level CBD isolates or pastes with carrier oils. Hemp seed or coconut oil is the most common.
Why is this Important?
As you can see, CBD oils come from a meticulous process of extracting and isolating CBD. This allows manufacturers to control the strengths, dosages, and combinations of a wide range of products.
Each cannabinoid can easily be isolated and eliminated, so THC levels can also be adjusted to ensure they don’t cause any psychoactive effects. This allows for other cannabinoids, each with their own benefits, to be added at higher or lower levels depending on the desired effect.
What is Hemp Oil?
It may sound like CBD oil should be called “hemp oil”, but it is a completely different product.
Hemp oil is the more popular marketing term for hemp seed oils. This name tells you exactly what part of the hemp plant is being used to make hemp oil.
Hemp oil can be made by grinding the seeds of the hemp plant and then extracting the oil. Hemp seeds contain less active cannabinoids than the rest of the plant. They are rich in vitamin E and other fatty acids, such as omega-3 and 6 but they are not a great source.
What uses is hemp oil for?
Hemp oil has become a highly sought-after product in beauty and skincare because of its high level of vitamins, omegas, and fatty acids. It can be taken in capsule or oil form.
What are the Benefits of Hemp Oil?
Hemp oil is a healthier option than vegetable oil and olive oil in cooking, as it has 25x more omegas per tablespoon than olive oil without trans fats (bad cholesterol).
Can CBD and Hemp Oil be taken together?
CBD and hemp oils are so versatile that you can choose which one you prefer.
